EDM 712 Strategic Planning in Education 3 CREDITS
Purpose:
This course aims to enhance students’ abilities in strategic planning for managing schools. It will cover the process of creating a clear vision and mission for schools and aligning all activities and programs with these goals. Students will gain the necessary skills to effectively implement strategic plans for school improvement.
Expected Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, students should be able to:
(1) Create strategic plans for schools,
(2) Clearly articulate the vision and mission of a school,
(3) Successfully implement actionable strategic plans.
The course focuses on developing and implementing strategic plans in educational organizations; this course emphasizes the importance of vision, mission, and goal-setting.The course will cover introduction to strategic planning, environment analysis, goal-setting and objectives, strategic options and choice, strategy implement and resource allocation, monitoring, evaluation, and review, change management and leadership, collaboration and partnership, and action planning and implementation. Students will learn to conduct SWOT analyses and create actionable plans to improve educational outcomes.
Mode of delivery
Lecture, group discussions, class presentation, reflection exercises and library research.

Online tools such as tools such as Zoom, Google class and voice recording.

Continuous Assessment Tests – 30%
End of Semester Examination – 70%
