EDM 711 Introduction to Educational Management 3 CREDITS
Purpose:
The main objective of this course is to equip students with a thorough understanding of educational management. It aims to lay a strong foundation for them to further explore this field and effectively manage schools to promote improvement.
Expected Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, the student should be able to
- Apply leadership skills in managing the school effectively
- Understand and apply the different theories and styles of leadership in managing schools.
- Critique, analyse, and apply findings in educational management to school situations.
Course content
This course provides an overview of the principles and practices of educational management. Students will explore the role of educational leaders, organizational structures, and the impact of management theories on educational settings. Topics include leadership styles, decision-making processes, and the importance of effective communication in educational institutions.
Lecture, group discussions, class presentation, reflection exercises and library research.

Online tools such as Zoom, Google class and voice recording.
